AOP WORKSHOP AUGUST 15TH | LIVE VIRTUAL 12pm pst

THE HIDDEN MECHANICS OF PILATES

How to Apply Biomechanical Reasoning in the Pilates Studio is designed to help you move beyond memorizing exercises and start making decisions based on the mechanics happening in front of you.

4 hours | live online

Reading about biomechanics isn't the hard part. Applying it is. Maybe you've taken anatomy courses. Maybe you've studied biomechanics. Maybe you've even read Building Strength Through Biomechanics. But then you're standing in front of a client thinking...

"I know the theory...so why am I still second-guessing my programming?"

That's because information isn't the same thing as application. This workshop is designed to bridge that gap. Not by teaching more facts, but by changing how you think.

early bird registration closes august 5th

In this workshop you'll learn to:

ONE

Analyze any Pilates exercise using a repeatable framework

TWO

Identify the mechanical demands that drive adaptation and connect biomechanics directly to programming decisions

THREE

Understand how springs, gravity, body position, lever length, and range of motion influence strength training

FOUR

Progress and regress exercises by changing demand—not just changing repertoire

Who this workshop is for?

Pilates instructors who are ready to move beyond memorizing muscles and start understanding movement.

Whether you teach Classical, Contemporary, or something in between, exercise science doesn't replace your method.

It helps you understand why your programming works—and how to adapt it with greater confidence.

What makes this workshop different?

Most continuing education teaches more information.

This workshop teaches you a process you can use in your very next session.

This is not another biomechanics lecture.

The lecture is the book. The workshop is the lab. You'll spend the day:

  • analyzing exercises together
  • mapping force directions
  • working through real client scenarios
  • debating programming decisions
  • applying biomechanics instead of simply talking about it

Instead of asking...

What muscles does this exercise work?

You'll start asking…

What is the load?

What direction is the load coming from?

What happens if the load wins?

Those three questions become a framework for understanding every Pilates exercise—whether you're teaching Footwork, Scooter, Long Stretch, or designing an entire session.

Once you understand the mechanical demands of movement, programming becomes intentional instead of instinctive.

Let’s talk workshop FAqs

Do I need to read Building Strength Through Biomechanics first?

No, but it's strongly recommended. The workshop is designed to build on the concepts introduced in the book and focuses on applying them rather than teaching them from the beginning.

Is this only for strength-focused instructors?

No. The framework applies to any goal because every adaptation begins with mechanical demand. Whether you're teaching strength, balance, mobility, endurance, or skill acquisition, understanding how load shapes movement will improve your programming.

Is this appropriate for Classical Pilates instructors?

Absolutely. The workshop isn't about changing your repertoire or your teaching philosophy. It's about using exercise science to better understand the mechanical demands created by the exercises you already teach.

Will this prepare me for the mentorship?

Yes. In fact, this workshop was designed as the bridge between learning the principles and applying them over time. You'll leave with a framework for analyzing movement and enough guided practice to start using it confidently. The six-week mentorship, From Principles to Practice, builds on that foundation by helping you apply the framework to a wide range of real clients, goals, and programming challenges with coaching and feedback from the group.

What if I can't make the live workshop?

Where this workshop fits

01

Think of it as a progression.

02

Foundations of Exercise Science Ebook

Learn the science and the principles

03

Hidden Mechanics of Pilates

Learn how to apply those principles to Pilates programming.

04

From Principles to Practice

Develop confidence applying them to real clients through six weeks of guided mentorship.

Each step builds on the last.

Ready to stop guessing?

Programming becomes much simpler when you understand what mechanical demands you're creating.

Join me for four hours of practical exercise analysis, biomechanics, and discussion that will change the way you look at every Pilates exercise you teach.

This workshop is designed to bridge that gap.

Not by teaching more facts.

By changing how you think.
